“Sonorous saxophones, groovin' guitar, mesmerising tablas and more... ”
Jazz Eclectic, formed in 2023, is a dynamic ensemble featuring Dave Fernandez on Tablas and Dholak, Katrina Fawns on alto sax and flute, Trent Jordan on tenor and soprano sax, and Calvin Raison on guitar. Our band name reflects our repertoire's diversity, encompassing a wide range of jazz styles, from standards and Latin jazz to funk and modern popular tunes.
We have performed at various venues, including the Queen St Mall centre stage for City Sounds, bars such as The Junk Bar, and community events. We were thrilled in mid 2024 to perform at the Devonport Jazz Festival, playing three different venues over the course of the weekend.
Our unique lineup creates a distinctive sound characterized by beautiful saxophone harmonies and innovative rhythms introduced through Indian percussion instruments and guitar.
Our repertoire represents a unique take on the jazz art form. Our performances feature songs outside the standard jazz repertoire, such as "True Colors" and "Under the Milky Way Tonight", alongside lesser-heard standards and Latin jazz pieces like "I Fall in Love Too Easily" and "Samba Dees Days". Our arrangements are designed to groove and engage, showcasing our commitment to blending traditional jazz elements with contemporary and global influences.
Jazz Eclectic promises an unforgettable musical experience, pushing the boundaries of jazz while honouring its rich traditions. We look forward to sharing our passion for jazz and our distinctive sound with you.

“Greetings from Warwick's Art@ St Mark's team. We would like to convey our THANKS AND GRATITUDE to you for the wonderful Entertainment you provided for us and our Event. We have had nothing but compliments about your performance, and how much they enjoyed it, how it complemented our little hub around the St Mark's precinct, especially our Cafe, and would love to see the same in 2025 if possible...”
